Go Beyond the Eye with Alan Duffy and Cara Santa Maria this November

Gaze into our cosmos and go Beyond the Eye with Alan Duffy and Cara Santa Maria

For one night only this November, Think Inc., the team behind Australian tours of Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson, Dr Jane Goodall, Dr Michio Kaku and Dr Brian Greene, bring Australian audiences two of the most internationally celebrated science communicators: astrophysicist and science expert Professor Alan Duffy, together with LA Area Emmy Award winning journalist, science communicator, television personality, producer and podcaster, Cara Santa Maria. Together they take the stage in Melbourne, Australia to create Beyond the Eye.

Join them as they delve into the most bright and beguiling mysterious of our universe. They’ll myth bust the shrinking Moon Illusion, look at why stars appear to wander across the sky, examine how the twinkling of a star can tell us how big it is, the science behind mirages, and how galaxies are organised into ‘cosmic webs’.

Alan Duffy has paved a reputable career, publishing over 20 critically acclaimed papers on astronomy and cosmology, dedicating his time and knowledge to communicating science in Indigenous and metropolitan schools across the country. He famously creates universes on supercomputers to understand how galaxies like our Milky Way form and grow within the vast halos of invisible dark matter.

On the other side of the globe, psychologist, philosopher and academic Cara Santa Maria has dedicated her life to improving science literacy by communicating scientific principles across media platforms. She rose to popularity with science programs such as TechKnow on Al Jazeera America, The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe podcast, as well as hosting her own weekly podcast Talk Nerdy.

This November, Think Inc., together with Professor Alan Duffy and Cara Santa Maria, invite you to probe the depths of your scientific knowledge and engage in an open discussion on the cosmos.
